Respect, Responsibility,
& Reverence
We LEAD by example in K-1!
Week of: May 16, 2022
Last week was another productive week in our Kindergarten class. Everyone worked hard; we are still moving and grooving as we finish our last month of school together.
During religion, we worked in our religion workbooks and focused on how seeds are good for growth, butterflies are good for nature, and light is good because Jesus is the light of the world. We enjoy reading and discussing these pages together in the reading corner, then highlighting the sight words when we go back to our desks. We conclude our lessons when we work on the last activity together on the third page.
We also prayed to Mother Mary and reviewed the Hail Mary prayer line by line. May is the month where we honor Mary and pray to her.
In reading, we continued in our Unit 8 readers! This week we worked on week 2 and discussed our country - the U.S.A! The children listened to a story titled, Ana Goes to Washington, D.C. The story was informative and it had real photographs of different buildings and monuments in Washington, D.C., our nation's capital.
In math, we continued learning about position words. We focused on "Next To and Beside". The children completed position packets at home. They did a great job!
Next week, the children will be introduced to Chapter 11 - Two-Dimensional Shapes. This is another fun chapter!
During Spanish, Ms. Boss reviewed colors with the children, sang the colors song, and read them a story in Spanish!
Ms. Boss has previously taught: My Body (mi cuerpo). They learned eyes (el ojo), mouth (la boca), the hand (la mano), and the foot (el pie).
The children have learned many colors: green (verde), yellow (amarillo), orange (anaranjado), red (rojo), blue (azul), and purple (morado).
Thanks, Ms. Boss!
Throughout the week, we also learned about a butterfly's life cycle! The children created hands-on, large butterfly life cycles. They did an awesome job!
We ordered our caterpillars, too. Once they arrive, we will start our observation journals and watch and record the journey from caterpillar to butterfly!
