November 27 - December 1 I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. As we transition from Thanksgiving to the season of Christmas, we will discuss Advent and how we will prepare for the coming of the newborn King, Jesus Christ. Such a wonderful and special time of year, a time to rejoice and enjoy the beauty of the season.
The children are busy practicing for the Advent Concert (K-3) which is on Wednesday, December 3rd. Make sure to mark your calenddar, such a special way to feel the spirit of Christmas.
This Week in:
ELA
Essential Question: How can you find your way around?
Phonics: sounds ch, tch, wh & ph
Examples: chop, catch, when & Phil
Vocabulary words: around by many place walk
Comprehension: discussion of main topic and key details
ELA Homework for the week:
Monday - sentences for spelling words 1-3
Tuesday - sentences for spelling words 4-6
Please make sure the sentences make sense and have at least 5 words. Descriptive words are a wonderful way to extend a sentence. We talk about making the reader excitedd about reading your sentences.
Wednesday- write each spelling word 3 times.
Spelling Words: fish shop ship with thick thud
We will have a spelling test on Friday and a digraph/blend assessment on Thursday.
Math We will begin chapter 3
(Addition Strategies to 20)
We will count on with pennies, a number line, use doubles and near doubles to add.
Religion We will begin talking about Advent and and how it is a time of waiting. We will discuss the 4 weeks leading up to Christmas and what we do each week as we prepare for Christ's coming. Advent begins Sunday December 3rd and ends Sunday, December 24th.
