Week of January 25, 2021 - January 29, 2021
Our Star of the week is Riley.
Happy 6th Birthday Christ. (1/24)
Thank you Megan for being a great Star of the Week.
Even though we only had four days of school last week, we sure did get a lot done. January is such a great month with so many wonderful things to do.
I hope you enjoyed reading through our unit 4 Wonders Readers with your child. They are doing an amazing job sounding out words.
We had a week of review with our sight words. The children made sight word snowmen. They cut out, decorated and wrote a sight word on each snowball of their snowman. They put these words together and made a sentence. The children are doing such a fantastic job creating sentences. The snowmen are making our hallway look so bright and cheery.
The children also enjoyed listening to the story Polar Bear, Polar Bear What do you Hear? Bill Martin/Eric Carle
We talked about how the author carefully matched the sounds to each animal. Would a lion or a flamingo roar? The children recalled the sequence of the animals in the story and mapped them out. Ms. Graziose was impressed with the careful cutting and beautiful coloring they were doing.
We also discussed and researched where polar bears live, what they eat and how they are being affected by global warming. What can we do to protect these beautiful animals?
In religion, we started discussing the sacrament of Baptism. We listed the things and people that are present at a Baptism. They include, family, holy water, a cross, the Priest and God Parents. The children loved seeing the pictures of their classmates on their special day.
