Respect, Responsibility,
& Reverence
Welcome to the Middle School Science Page.
Our science program is designed to get students to participate in their learning.
The sixth grade will be studying Earth Science this year.
The seventh grade will be studying Physical Science this year.
The eighth grade will be studing Regents Living Environment this year.
In this unit of study, the sixth grade will learn about the minerals and rocks that make up our planet. They will explore Earth’s interior and study how our planet’s materials are constantly being cycled. They will also learn about how minerals and rocks form. In the following weeks of study, the unit will provide the sixth grade with a deepening understanding of Earth’s geosphere.
In this unit of study, the seventh grade will be introduced to atoms as the building blocks of matter. They will also learn about the organization of the periodic table, how bonding determines the properties of a substance, and what acids and bases are. In the following weeks of study, the unit will provide them with a deepening understanding of chemistry.
In this unit of study, the eigtth grade will investigate prokaryotic and eukarotic cells. They will learn and understand the cell theory. They will use analogies and models to help them identify cellular structures that direct and organize cellular processes, store needed materials, rid the cell of wates, and provide for structure and movement. They will observe the cells and see how they are able to maintain homeostasis in a constantly changing environment.
